The 6th and most recent steering committee was held over a three-day period, from the 6th to the 8th of November 2023, at the Vienna International Centre in Austria. Unlike previous additions, this year formally marked the arrival of the CEREEAC into the proceedings of the event. In these sessions CEREEAC was represented by the Head of the Start-Up Unit, Jean-Pierre Ndoutoum, and Technical Expert Izaiah Mulenga. Amongst the backdrop of various other GN-SEC accomplishments throughout the year, CEREEAC was still able to make a notable presence over the three-day period. This owing to its proactive contributions to various workshops and its own achievement in mobilising funding, including backing from the EU, for the first operational phase of the centre.
Over the course of the event, CEREEAC was able to take away best practices on the successful operation of their newly established centre, through in-depth discussions with delegates from the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. Furthermore, exposure to numerous project proposals provided valuable insight into what could be achieved through the centre. In addition to various other projects, CEREEAC expressed interest in pursuing projects on the themes of Agri-Photovoltaics, Industrial Deep Decarbonisation and increasing access to Clean Cooking Facilities.
The opportunity to network with members of the GN-SEC Secretariat and other Centre representatives was undoubtedly a worthwhile experience, and the team eagerly anticipates the start of the 7th steering committee to build upon these partnerships.
